FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a watch or a treadmill?

No. Motion Vitals is one lace-clip sensor — the MotionPod. Clip it to your shoe, run wherever you already run, and it measures how your body actually hits the ground. No watch, no lab, no camera array.

How does one sensor read both legs?

The MotionPod mounts on one shoe and measures that foot's strikes directly — impact, cadence, ground contact, and symmetry. Our metrics engine models your stride from those strikes to give you a whole-run picture. Want true left/right comparison on every step? The MotionPod Pair puts a sensor on each shoe.

How accurate is it?

The MotionPod measures at the foot with a lab-grade inertial sensor (accelerometer + gyroscope), sampling every foot strike — not a wrist estimate averaged over a mile. It's built on patented core tech (US 10,820,836) and patent-pending load modeling. For most runners it surfaces changes in load, symmetry, and form that a watch can't see.

What is the Vitals Score?

One number, measured at the foot. It rolls impact, symmetry, cadence, and ground contact into a single read on how today's run loaded your body — so you know what to work on and when to back off. Details on How it works and The science.

Do I need a subscription?

No. The Motion Vitals athlete app is free. The optional Coach and Clinic dashboards ($100/mo) are for teams and PTs managing multiple athletes.

Which phones does it work with?

The app runs on current iOS and Android devices and connects to the MotionPod over Bluetooth. Setup takes a couple of minutes — see Support.

What's your return policy?

See our Refund Policy for full terms. If a MotionPod arrives faulty, contact us and we'll make it right.
